Frequently Asked Questions

How do I register with Supply Hive Wales?
Send us your CV through our Submit CV page or call us on 029 2002 0329. One of our consultants will be in touch to talk about the type of work you're looking for.

Is there a fee to register?
No. Registering with Supply Hive Wales is completely free.

Do I need to be registered with the Education Workforce Council (EWC)?
Yes. Teachers and learning support staff working in schools in Wales must be registered with the EWC. If you're new to working in Wales, or not yet registered, we can point you in the right direction.

What checks will I need?
Before your first booking, we'll complete the standard safer recruitment checks, including an enhanced DBS check, references, right to work and qualification checks. If you're already on the DBS Update Service, that can help speed things up. We'll also provide safeguarding training, so you feel confident and prepared before you start working in schools.

Do I need to speak Welsh?
No. Most of our roles are in English-medium schools. If you do speak Welsh, let us know, as we also work with Welsh-medium and bilingual schools.

Do I need a teaching assistant qualification?
No, a qualification isn't essential. We welcome people with relevant experience of working with children, and we'll meet with you to talk through your experience and assess your suitability before you register.

How quickly can I start?
As soon as your checks are complete. Having your documents ready makes the process much quicker.

Can I choose which days I work?
Yes. Supply work is flexible. Tell us which days you're available and we'll book you around them.

Do you offer long-term and permanent roles?
Yes. As well as day-to-day supply, we recruit for long-term placements and permanent positions.

How and when will I be paid?
You'll be paid weekly, every Friday.

Do you work with newly qualified teachers?
Yes. We regularly support newly qualified teachers, and supply work is a great way to gain experience across different schools.

Which areas do you cover?
We work with schools across Cardiff, Newport, the Vale of Glamorgan, Caerphilly and the surrounding areas.

Can I refer a friend?
Yes. If you know a teacher or teaching assistant who would be a great fit, you can refer them through our Refer a Friend page.
