Teaching Assistant – Year 1/2 Class

A school in Cardiff is looking for a caring, enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to support pupils in its mixed Year 1/2 class. This varied role is ideal for someone who enjoys helping young children learn, grow in confidence and take part in all aspects of school life.

About the role-
Working alongside the class teacher, you’ll help create a welcoming and supportive environment where pupils can learn and thrive. Your day may include:

• Supporting individuals and small groups with classroom activities and learning tasks.
• Helping pupils develop their reading, writing, numeracy and communication skills.
• Encouraging positive behaviour, independence and confidence.
• Preparing classroom resources and helping lessons run smoothly.
• Supporting pupils’ well being and helping them feel settled and included.
• Taking part in outdoor learning and Forest School activities, helping children explore and learn safely.
• Working collaboratively with the teacher and wider school team.

The role will suit someone who is flexible and happy to adapt to the changing needs of a mixed-age class. A positive, patient approach and an interest in outdoor learning would be valuable.

About you-
You’ll bring a warm, encouraging manner and enjoy building positive relationships with young children. You should be reliable, adaptable and comfortable supporting pupils with different interests, abilities and learning needs. Experience in a school or early years setting would be helpful.
